N.A.Care was originally set-up as an off-shoot from Northern Acoustics, providing a display area where people could come to see, and try, items before purchase. All of our range of items for deaf and hard-of-hearing people were put on display.
However it quickly became evident that there was a need for a similar requirement for other items. So we also now have an extensive range of items to deal with all aspects of daily living. These include mobility aids, kitchen help, personal care, sight problems, memory aids, etc are all covered. You can contact Stuart, who has experience in the practical side of this work, or check in the Categories in the side-column. This will direct you to some appropriate items.
By the very nature of what we are offering, there is a constant change in what is available. We know, only too well, that improvement is constantly happening. So what you see here is only a small selection of what we hold. Our own stock is up-dated regularly as new products come on-stream.
Feel free to tell us exactly what your needs are, and we will offer you the most modern items available.

This is specifically helpful for those trying to read print, or perhaps examining photos, slides, coins, maps or paintings. It is a hemisphere of clear un-breakable acrylic with no distortion effects, which is laid on top of the object to be examined. Because of the design, it gathers a large amount of light so auxiliaty lighting is not often required.

This features a set of large buttons and lettering (and as an addional features, it operates as a digital clock and an alarm clock). On pressing any button an audible voice (LO/HI switch) tells you which key has been pressed. Even with all these features, it is still small enough to go in your pocket. It requires two AA batteries (not supplied).

An essential item for those whose sight is so poor that they cannot detect when a cup, glass, kettle, or other container is almost full. This unit hangs over the edge of the container with three metal electrodes on the inside. When the liquid touches the two outer electrodes, the unit starts to bleep, and when it reaches the inner electrode then there is a continuous sound, to indicate that the container is full. Comes complete with CR2032 button cell.

We seem to live in a world controlled by the clock, and most of us must look at our watches numerous times a day. However if that sense is not available, then a talking watch may solve the problem. Press the button to hear the time.
Several styles are available.
PS we also have a watch fitted with a magnifying glass.

These offer the user an element of support as they walk along. To use them you need to have mobility in your legs and feet and have no serious balance problem (ask your health advisor about this).
There are two main styles- 3- wheel (generally called a tri-walker) and 4-wheel (often called a Quad -walker)……………
3-wheel……
This has (of course!) three wheels, one at the front which can swivel, and at the back there are two wheels directly below the handlebars…..these two are rigidly fixed to the frame. The height of the handles can be adjusted for each individual, so that you are not bending down.
A hand-operated brake is available on each hand, and it is simple to lock the wheels by pressing the brakes downwards. This is recommended every time you stop.
A basket or bag is available to fit on the front to carry personal effects or shopping. For storage at home or in a car (say) it is simply A matter of moving one lever.
4-wheel……
A much more stable walking help is the Quad walker, which has two moveable wheels at the front and two fixed ones at the rear. As above, it has two brakes, with locking device, and the handlebar height can be adjusted. A seat is fitted to allow you to have a short rest. Shopping etc can be stored in an under-the-seat area.
